Let’s get the disclaimer out of the way, then have fun: no zodiac sign is born a cheater. People cheat because of choices, unmet needs and bad timing, not because the Moon was in Gemini. But every sign does have its own flavour of temptation, and its own favourite excuse. That’s what this list is really ranking.
One more thing before the gossip. Your Sun sign is only the surface. Loyalty shows up far more in someone’s Venus (what they want from love) and Mars (how they go after it). If the ranking below feels wrong about your partner, look those up before you check their phone.
1. Gemini: the double life is mostly in their head
Gemini tops every one of these lists, and it’s a little unfair. Most Gemini “cheating” is conversation: the flirty texts, the friend who’s a bit too fun, the imaginary life they narrate in the shower. Boredom is the real danger. A Gemini who’s mentally starved will go looking for a better chat. Keep them laughing and curious and they’re far more loyal than their reputation.
Their excuse: “We were just talking.”
2. Sagittarius: allergic to fences
Sagittarius doesn’t plan to cheat. Sagittarius plans to be free, and sometimes those look similar at 2am in a foreign city. This sign panics when love starts to feel like a cage. The fix isn’t more rules, it’s more adventure together. Give them a passport and an honest conversation about what exclusive means, and they’ll surprise you.
Their excuse: “I never said we were exclusive.”
3. Aquarius: the emotional affair with an idea
Aquarius can be deeply loyal to a person and still wander off with someone who shares their obsession with Tarkovsky films or crypto or saving the whales. Their temptation is the meeting of minds. Often it never becomes physical, which is exactly why they don’t think it counts.
Their excuse: “It’s a friendship. You wouldn’t get it.”
4. Leo: starving for applause
Leo cheats when Leo feels invisible. If a partner stops noticing, complimenting, choosing them out loud, someone else’s admiration becomes very, very bright. The good news is that the cure is simple and a little bit fun: adore them properly, in public.
Their excuse: “At least they noticed me.”
5. Aries: acted first, thought later
Aries rarely plans anything, including infidelity. It’s heat of the moment, a dare, a drink. And because Aries is terrible at lying, you’ll probably find out within the week, possibly because they tell you themselves.
Their excuse: “It just happened.”
6. Libra: couldn’t say no to the attention
Libra loves being loved, and loves not upsetting anyone. That combination can slide into letting a flirtation go further than it should, because shutting it down would feel rude. It’s less betrayal, more a terrible talent for politeness.
Their excuse: “I didn’t want to hurt their feelings.”
7. Pisces: fell for the fantasy
Pisces falls in love with potential, and sometimes the potential belongs to somebody else. When reality gets heavy, the dreamy escape route can look like a person. They feel terrible about it, sincerely, and usually write a poem.
Their excuse: “It felt like fate.”
8. Virgo: cheats on their own schedule, rarely
Virgo is too busy, too careful and too aware of the logistics. When a Virgo strays, it’s usually because the relationship already ended in their head months ago and they were quietly building an exit.
Their excuse: “I’d been unhappy for a long time. You didn’t notice.”
9. Scorpio: loyal to the bone, lethal when crossed
Scorpio’s reputation is sexual, but its values are loyalty and truth. Scorpios rarely cheat on a partner they trust. Betray a Scorpio first, though, and revenge is on the table, and it will be very well planned.
Their excuse: “You started it.”
10. Cancer: too attached to the nest
Cancer builds a home in a person and doesn’t tear it down lightly. If Cancer feels neglected, they’re more likely to cling, sulk or retreat than stray. The risk isn’t cheating, it’s staying far too long.
Their excuse: They don’t have one. They just cry.
11. Capricorn: too much to lose
Capricorn thinks in decades. An affair is a bad investment: reputation, family, the life they built brick by brick. Capricorn will choose the long game almost every time.
Their excuse: Also none. They simply ran the numbers.
12. Taurus: why would I leave the good sheets?
Taurus is the most loyal sign on this list, partly out of devotion and partly out of comfort. They’ve found their person, their restaurant and their side of the bed, and change is exhausting. Keep them fed and touched and they’re yours for life.
Their excuse: They’d never need one.
What actually predicts loyalty
If you want the real astrology of faithfulness, skip the Sun sign and look at three things: Venus (what someone needs to feel loved, and whether they’re getting it), Mars (how impulsive their desire is), and how your charts meet. Plenty of Geminis are devoted for fifty years. Plenty of Tauruses leave. The chart tells a fuller story than any ranking, including this one.
